MinMap is an independent, non-profit app that helps a congregation keep its territory maps up to date. This notice says what MinMap keeps about you, why, who can see it, how long it's kept and what you can do about it.
Last changed 14 October 2026.
MinMap is run by James Gillies, Newcastle West, Co. Limerick, Ireland, who decides how MinMap uses your details (the "controller" in data protection law). While MinMap is being tried out, only one congregation uses it.
James is setting up a company, Nuthatch Studio, to publish MinMap. When it takes over, this notice will be updated and you'll be asked to read it again.
For anything about your details, email [email protected].
Being on MinMap shows which congregation you're in, and so your religion. The law treats that as a special kind of personal data. MinMap keeps your name only with your clear consent, which you give when you sign up and can withdraw at any time by deleting your account.
| What | Who can see it | How long |

| Which app version you use and the last day you opened the app (no history) | The person who runs MinMap, as numbers per version | Until you delete your account |
| Push notifications, if you turn them on: a code for your phone from Google Firebase and which kinds you want | Nobody through the app | Until you turn them off, the phone stops accepting them, or you delete your account |
| Help from MinMap support: what was done to your congregation from MinMap's own admin page, for example making someone territory overseer | Your congregation's overseers | Until the congregation is deleted |
MinMap never keeps householders' names, notes or phone numbers. A house is a point on the map from OpenStreetMap. A do-not-call is a house, the date and who asked for it (only overseers see who asked). Overseers are reminded every year to check that each do-not-call is still wanted.
An overseer may write the name of someone who doesn't use MinMap when giving out roads or in the territory records. Those names follow the same time limits as above. If that's you and you'd like your name removed, email [email protected].
If you're under 16, a parent or guardian has to agree by email before your account can join a congregation. They can ask for the account to be deleted at any time.
The app keeps maps, marks, photos of people in your congregation and your settings on your phone so it works with no signal. One cookie keeps you signed in; the app sets no other cookies. Signing out ends your session. To clear what the app keeps on a phone, clear the site's data in the browser settings.
On the public pages of useminmap.app (the home page, sign-up, this notice and the roles guide), MinMap can use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. It only runs if you tap Accept on the cookie message. It's never used on the admin pages.
In the app, Google Analytics runs only if you turn on Send crash reports and usage stats (asked on Home, and in Me). It then counts which screens are used (Home, Map, Groups, Me) and which app version you have. It's never told your name, congregation, maps, roads, houses or where you are.
We answer within one month.
If this notice changes in a way that affects what you agreed to, MinMap asks you to read it and agree again before you carry on.
